Use Effective Lessons

STEP 6

Looking Forward

journey-web-panel-12.png

We are looking at how to multiply disciple-makers, and the next point is that you must use effective discipleship lessons.

The majority of so-called “discipleship” lessons only ground the new believer.

By grounding, I mean they provide some basic information to the new believer, but the new believer cannot teach that lesson to someone else when they graduate, so there is no multiplication.

And that's a problem if you're going to obey Ephesians 4.

From our experience of planting churches since 1987, these are the main elements that effective discipleship lessons must include if you want multiplication to take place.

- The lessons are doctrinally correct.

- The lessons allow the Word of God to form the thought.

- The lessons have large amounts of the Word of God.

- The lessons train the disciple to witness and provide tools.

- The Bible is emphasized over man's words.

- The lessons must have the correct subjects.

- The lessons must use the correct Bible verses.

- The lessons must include discipleship training.

- The lessons must evaluate the disciple.

- The lessons work in all cultures because the culture of the Word of God is emphasized.

- The lessons enable a church-wide strategy for multiplication.

- The lessons pass on a lifetime philosophy of discipleship and more.

All of these elements, and more, are present in the Journey discipleship lessons. We can send you a set of samples so you can see for yourself.
Multiplication occurs when this step is faithfully taken.

So we are talking about how to multiply disciple-makers, and to do so, you need a biblical shepherd as the pastor, you need to be a first-century ministry, you need to be careful to start right, and you need effective discipleship lessons.

Let's continue.
