How to Expand Your Discipleship Ministry with Journey

There are Hindrances to Discipleship
1. Letting disciples graduate without having their own disciple - see the last page of Journey.
2. Not keeping it the focus of your ministry,
3. Letting disciples and disciplers have weeks where they don’t meet.
4. Letting fellowships, classes, etc., grow to hinder disciplers meeting with their disciples; the disciples and disciplers will feel less of a need to disciple if you fill their time with group meetings.

To Expand Your Discipleship Ministry...

1. Ask for commitments regularly to become a Disciple Maker or a Disciple. It takes time to see the results of one-on-one discipleship.
2. Schedule monthly church fellowships for those involved in discipleship, a time for you to speak to the disciplers with their disciples, fellowships for the disciplers and their disciples to have together.
3. Develop banners, bulletin inserts, and other public messages to be placed around the church.
4. Schedule testimonies from Disciplers and Disciples in the church services.
5. Schedule effective outreach events to gain disciples for your Disciplers.
6. Schedule Special Events like“Catch-up” Weeks and Weekends after vacations and holidays, Discipleship Camps, and Discipleship Retreats.
7. Schedule follow-up Discipleship Workshops every nine months, or Discipleship Training of other Churches in other cities and countries as often as possible.
8. Plan for Year-round Education, Exposure, and Experience.
9. Plan ways to integrate one-on-one discipleship education, exposure, and experience into the life of the church.
10. Have a church purpose/mission statement that reflects your local/global passion for making disciples.
11. Challenge the entire congregation with a global vision to multiply Disciple-Makers.
12. Begin consideration of the church budget and staff needed for Discipleship. Should you hire full-time Soul Winning Disciple Makers?

The Next Expansion of Discipleship begins when:
- Disciplers are called to do more ministry.
- New congregations need to start.
- Disciples are becoming Disciples every month.
